Molot 0.3.1 and Limiter №6 1.0.2 with AU support were released

What’s new in Molot 0.3.1:

  • Output and editing of numeric parameter values. (Editing not implemented in 32-bit AU version)
  • Fixed wrong mode in some presets.
  • Fixed filter used in linear phase oversampling mode.
  • Added “dithering off” option.
  • Fixed working with VstToRTAS.
  • Added AU version.
  • Added support for 10 times attack time scaling.
  • Changed limiter code (based on Limiter No6)

What’s new in Limiter №6 1.0.2:

  • Less intensive animation (to save CPU cycles);
  • Stereo-linked mode in peak-limiter was significantly improved;
  • Numeric parameter values now editable (excluding 32-bit AU version);
  • Modes I-III of peak limiter were slightly changed;
  • AU version added

AU version release notes:

  • To refresh DAW latency compensation when plugin latency is changed, audio must be restarted (stop/start);
  • Limiter №6 changes its latency in “Min.latency” mode;
  • Molot changes its latency when switched between “HQ” and “Fast” oversampling modes.

Molot compressor updated to 0.2.145

New version available in download page. What’s new:

  • New upsampling code: latency now 2 samples
  • Faster limiter release
  • Fixed bug with preset names changing

Новая версия доступна на странице загрузки. Что нового:

Новый алгоритм передискретизации: задержка теперь 2 отсчета
Уменьшено время релиза лимитера
Исправлена ошибка с изменением имен пресетов

I used previous version of Molot in some projects and I think the limiter was too soft and too slow. As the main idea for limiter in Molot is to control peaks in sigma mode I changed limiter settings to more aggressive.

Also I have a lot of fun pictures for new post about some experiments with different upsampling algorithms (step, linear, polynomial, sinc function). It’ll come soon.

Donate, donate, donate, donate, donate, donate

Just have added “donate” button in [downloads] page.

If you like this plugin and use it in you work -or- don’t like this plugin but want me to improve it -or- just sold your UAD on eBay you can thank me by making donation. Thank you!

A couple of favorite opinions about Molot:

“Very good and versatile comp. It can smack and round things!”
— Beto_larski (at gearslutz.com)

“Molot is up there with some of the most characterful compressors that I’ve ever used and I’ve used tons of them over the years. Keep up the Good work and the character.”
— BFunKu (at kvraudio.com)

And as I don’t have new pictures about sound or plugins except this one (I’m checking for some ideas for the new plugin now):

I post this picture with kittens just because I like it 🙂

Oops! Quick fixes

0.2.135 version was uploaded with broken limiter code. Limiter release autotune function was suddenly disappeared. I uploaded new version with this fix (version got “0.2.135f” in the corner of plugin window). Thanks to Alteregoxxx to notify that.

Версия 0.2.135 была выложена с ошибкой в коде лимитера. Куда-то пропала функция автоматической подстройки релиза. Я обновил версию (выводит 0.2.135f в углу окна плагина). Спасибо Alteregoxxx за то, что заметил.

Just FYI. Input signal:

See how limiter release time depends on peak length:

Good luck!

Molot compressor updated to 0.2.135

New version available in download page. What’s new:

  • New limiter code
  • Larger GUI
  • Release curve reverted to 0.2.121 version

The limiter is far from ideal but much better than it was. Remember that the main task for limiter in this compressor is to soften (but not 100% suppress) peaks passed through in sigma mode.

And just for fun I found this old picture:

And also the first concept of GUI:

Have fun!
